This research forms the basis of my PhD and draws focus to stories that are often left untold - the ways in which living with feelings of sexual shame may intersect with, or exist alongside, an eating disorder (past or present). The study is grounded in the personal accounts of South African women, seeking to deepen understanding of this scarcely documented topic within the field of eating disorder treatment. By bringing attention to sexuality, intimacy, and shame as potentially integral features in eating disorder processes, this work hopes to contribute to a more informed body of therapeutic care. This can begin by building a foundation of knowledge through research on a topic that has been rarely studied.
